Lot Essay

The shape of this coffee pot, which also may have been used for tea, is probably adapted from a Dutch silver prototype, see Howard and Ayers, China for the West, London, 1978, vol.I., p.128 and illustration. Also see C.J.A. Jörg, Fine and Curious, Amsterdam, 2003, p. 207, ill. 266 for a discussion of a similar coffee-pot.
