Circa 1690-1710
The lobed pear-shaped body moulded with cranes amidst pine and prunus beneath stylised clouds, decorated in iron-red, green, aubergine, salmon, underglaze-blue and black enamels and gilt, the rim painted with an iron-red key-band above a ribbed bulb, all raised on three feet modelled as bijin, set with loop handle and aperture for tap, the cover surmounted by a knop finial raised on a fungus stem, cover restored, feet restored, crack

The shape of this coffee pot, which also may have been used for tea, is probably adapted from a Dutch silver prototype, see Howard and Ayers, China for the West, London, 1978, vol.I., p.128 and illustration.
