For a similar picture see The Judkyn/Pratt Collection of British Folk Art, sold Christie's South Kensington, 8th November 1995, lot 65. Other similar pictures in the same sale portrayed an asylum in north Wales and another thought to be a view of Glan-y-don, the Welsh seaside branch of a Manchester based asylum, it has been suggested that these were an early form of occupational therapy.
