Comparable examples are illustrated in Richard Bebb Welsh Furniture 1250-1950, Saer, 2007, Vol ii, pg 146-147 where the author attributes them to the counties of Breconshire and Radnorshire. The construction of these substantial chests is distinctive, whereby the uprights are hollowed out of the solid to receive the thick horizontal front, back and side planks. The lower part of the leg is cut to shape a foot.
