LA MISSION HAUT-BRION

La Mission has 21 hectares of vines planted with 48 Cabernet Sauvignon, 45 Merlot and 7 Cabernet Franc. Since 1983 both La Mission Haut-Brion and Haut-Brion have been owned by the Dillon family. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted in the vineyard on mobile sorting tables. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless steel vats at an average temperature of 30 degrees and then matured in oak barriques (100 new) for 18 to 22 months. Annual production is approximately 100,000 bottles and the second wine is called Chteau La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion.

Beautiful, garnet red, with purple tints. The complex, earthy bouquet of top red Graves is not yet fully in evidence, but already promising well. This is richly built, with intriguing, chewy texture, and many complex elements, still to harmonise. AH
