RIGHT BANK STANDOUTS
La Fleur de Gay, La Fleur P/aetrus and Tertre Roteboeuf have long been "insider wines" that make for remarkable drinking at prices much more conducive to sampling frequently. Tertre Rotebouef is blessed with a remarkable multi-layered terrior, La Fleur P/aetrus benefits from Jean-Pierre Moueix's golden touch, and La Fleur de Gay's land is sandwiched between P/aetrus and Lafleur.
Château La Fleur de Gay--Vintage 1990
Pomerol
All lots in original wooden cases
Lot 237 lightly bin soiled labels, lightly corroded capsules
Parcel: lots 235-236
"Given the limited production of less than 1,500 cases per year, this is one of the most difficult Pomerols to obtain. I appear to have underrated the 1990 La Fleur de Gay. This outstanding wine, which has put on weight, was not embarrassed when tasted next to the 1989. It offers an opaque purple color, a sweet, jammy nose of black fruits, medium to full body, ripe tannin, and layers of extract and glycerin in its pure, supple, low acid finish. The development of the wine's character, complexity, and richness was surprising. Anticipated maturity: now-2015." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #109 (Feb 1997)
