Château Angélus--Vintage 1996
Saint-Emilion, grand cru classé
Nearly half Merlot and half Cabernet Franc, Angélus is located at the foot of the côtes, on a soil rich with clay. Promoted in 1996 to premier grand cru (B), the wines today are the best of what St.-Emilion is known for: lush, velvety black fruit, with supple tannins and notable generosity. This generosity is the keyword for the 1996, which is done in a particularly powerful style. The wine today has a roast, warm quality to the fruit and a softness on the palate that is very feminine and seductive." CC Tasted September 2008
