TWO COPTIC TEXTILE FRAGMENTS WITH PARROTS
CIRCA 5TH CENTURY A.D.
Brightly coloured, each facing right with large eyes and open beaks, 5 in. (12.5 cm.) long av.; and a group of fragmentary textile borders, roundels and clavi including another polychrome fragmentary bird; two brightly coloured flowers and a similar foliate band; and a square textile fragment, woven in dark red on a white ground with a seated naked figure holding bunch of grapes, all 4th-7th Century A.D., 15 in. (38 cm.) long max., mounted in seven frames (17)
