TWO COPTIC TEXTILE FRAGMENTS WITH HEADS
CIRCA 4TH-6TH CENTURY A.D.
Of loop woven wool, 5½ in. (14 cm.) high av.; and a group of Coptic textile fragments, clavi, borders, squares and roundels including: a clavus fragment decorated with scrolling roundels filled with foliate and stylized animals between two large whales; a fragment decorated with two red spotted birds flanking a stylized foliate motif; a square monochrome fine geometric pattern fragment; and a small square fragment with star design and central crouching animal, all 4th-8th Century A.D., 24 in. (61 cm.) long max., mounted in nine frames (17)
