A LARGE GROUP OF COPTIC TEXTILE FRAGMENTS
CIRCA 4TH-8TH CENTURY A.D.
Mainly clavi, squares, roundels and borders from tunics including: a monochrome square with foliate border and central roundel with figure of winged Eros; a double tunic border on black ground with finely woven geometric patterns in cream and gold; a brightly coloured leaf and similar tunic fragment with three similar stylized flowers; a large tunic square woven in red with multiple stylized animals, figures and fish; and a border fragment with alternate squares and roundels filled with figures standing by columns and foliate motifs
