A HIGHLY POLISHED NEOLITHIC GREY STONE AXE HEAD
LATE 3RD/EARLY 2ND MILLENNIUM B.C.
Trapezoid in outline, with a rounded butt and curved cutting edge; and a Neolithic mottled grey stone 'boat' axe head with shaft-hole, rounded butt and straight sides, circa late 3rd/early 2nd millennium B.C.
8½ in. (21.5 cm.) and 6¾ in. (17 cm.) long respectively (2)
Provenance
Item one: formerly in the collection of the late Dr Thomas of London; found by a farm worker in Linton, Cambridgeshire, circa 1925.
Item two: found in High Kelling, Norfolk, prior to 1990.
