Lot Essay

Dayroush Gharahzad focuses on women in the streets of Tehran. They are required to cover their heads and wear modest clothes in public and instead tend to wear a lot of makeup as a means of expression. In this work he juxtaposes the face of a woman printed with a stencil gazing at the viewer, open to the world, while the real woman's face is turned towards the wall.
