Descriptif du lot

The sitter, traditionally identified as Mrs Mary Gee, could be the Mary Gee of Long Compton, Warwickshire, who married Thomas Gee (b.1749), of the same name, in Chipping Norton, in 1773. Alternatively, a Mrs Mary Gee, née Stephenson, is recorded in the Ruddington Parish Register transcript as having married Thomas Gee of Ruddington (b.1747), on 12 September 1769.
