Lot Essay

The candelabra issue from Roman 'altar' pedestals, for which a patent was taken out in 1781 by William Parker (d.1784), whose son later entered into partnership with the Perry family (see M. Mortimer, The English Glass Chandelier, Woodbridge, 2000, p. 98, pl. 44).
