The square top above two further square tiers, between baluster uprights capped by finials, on ring-turned legs with brass caps and castors, the underside of the top with paper label printed 'MANUFACTURERS/TO HER MAJESTY T.G.SEDDON/GRAYS INN ROAD/LONDON' numbered in ink '2242' and inscribed in ink 'O'KEEFE'

Lot Essay

The firm of T. & G. Seddon were awarded a Royal Warrant in 1832 following their partnership with Nicholas Morel to refurnish Windsor Castle. Thereafter, they included 'Manufacturers To Her Majesty' at the head of their label. A similar four-tier etagere bearing the same label, the serial number '2786' and the craftsman's name 'R. Vizer', was sold anonymously, Christie's, London, 30 November 2000, lot 66 (£4,465).
