PALEO
Le Macchiole's 52 acres of vineyards are close to some of the finest wineries in Tuscany's famous Bolgheri region. The Campolmi's began making wine in the early 1970s with the motto of one bottle per vine.
The first vintage was bottled in 1975. In a comparative tasting of Bolgheri's 1992 vintage three wines tied for first place; Sassicaia, Ornellaia and a newcomer, Le Macchiole's "Paleo".
The estate vaulted to international fame when their "Paleo" placed second to Chateau Pichon Lalande in a blind tasting at Vinitaly 1995.
