Château Haut-Brion--Vintage 1988
Pessac-Léognan, 1er cru classé
All lots in original wooden cases
Parcel: lots 270-276
"One of the stars of our recent tasting in Chicago, the 1988 Haut Brion is fragrant and complex on the nose, with ripe red and black berry character, a hint of warm bricks and an alluring minerality. It is still surprisingly youthful, with no real developed notes yet. On the palate the wine is muscular and rich, with firm tannic grip and very good length. Not at all hard or unyielding, just very dense. This wine can age for decades to come." CC, tasted March 2009
