Lot Essay

With Vacheron Constantin servicing invoice dated 1 October 2008 and original fitted presentation box. According to the Archives of Vacheron Constantin, the present watch was manufactured in 1954.

Vacheron Constantin's reference 4764 must be considered amongst the most impressive vintage wristwatch designs. Of large case proportion, it also combines the typical lavish 1950s style curves with a triple calendar and moon phases movement. This example here was completely overhauled at Vacheron Constantin's workshops in Geneva where case, dial and movement have been professionally redone according to the manufacturer's high standards.

A similar yellow gold "Cioccolatone" model with calendar and moon phases is illustrated in Ore d'Oro 2 by Jader Barracca, Giampiero Negretti, Franco Nencini, pl. D16.
