With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvery opaline dial, applied yellow gold indexes, English calendar version and yellow gold bracelet in 1989 and its subsequent sale on 3 April 1989. To the best of our knowledge, it has never been offered in public before.

Ref. 3945 was in production from 1985 until 1998, and is a variant of the celebrated reference 3940. Whereas the case of reference 3940 features lugs in order to add a detachable leather or gold bracelet, reference 3945 was exclusively made with integral gold bracelet.

As its peer, reference 3945 was produced in two series, distinguished by the leap year display: the first series with sunk leap year dial, the second series showing a crossed leap year, such as the present watch.
