A FINE COLLECTION OF EXCEPTIONAL PROVENANCE
In the world of fine wine sales and trading, the term 'pristine' is frequently used to describe bottles of perfect appearance packed in original cases. Whilst the physical appearance of a wine is always important, it does not always give the prospective buyer many clues to the actual storage and ownership history of the wine. Many cases that have a perfect outward appearance conceal a multiple owner past with more airmiles of travel than the average Christie's Auctioneer.
The following lots, 346 to 471, are in that increasingly rare pool of wines that can claim both the perfect physical condition and long-term storage under single ownership that is rarely to be found in today's intensive fine wine trading environment. Furthermore, the cases have not been moved during that time, residing in the deep, cool caverns of Octavian, Corsham since first arrival in the UK following early purchase during the period 1985 to 2003, mostly soon after each respective vintage.
Every case has been recently inspected by Christie's Wine Department staff with wooden cases being opened for the first time since leaving Bordeaux. This is therefore a wonderful opportunity for lovers of top quality Claret to acquire cases with both the crucial attributes of rare pristine provenance and superb physical condition.
