Lot Essay

This is a study for On the Moors (Ex. collection of Bing Crosby, illustrated Stanley Booth, Munnings, 1978, p.177). Munnings also made a watercolour of this horse in the same stance as the present work, standing on top of a hill with hounds and huntsmen beyond (Bardoff's Maine, 1 August 2008, lot 17.)

We would like to thank Lorian Peralta-Ramos for kindly assisting in cataloguing this work, which will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the artist.
