The inscription 'Lord Kingsborough's Lake' would suggest that the present watercolour was executed between 1766 and 1768 when the Kingsborough title was briefly recreated. In 1810 John Nash designed the new house under the instruction of Sir Robert King (1754-1799), 2nd Earl of Kingston, and later styled as Viscount Kingsborough.
