Lot Essay

Founded by Ednyfed Fychan, Penrhyn Castle was originally a medieval fortified manor house. The Castle is recorded in the present watercolour before the dramatic Neo-Norman alterations were executed for the Pennant family to designs by Thomas Hopper between 1820 and 1845.
