Lot Essay

Jean-Louis Grégoire studied at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, and exhibited at the Salon from 1867 until the year of his death. He specialized in both portrait sculpture and allegorical figures, as well as executing light-hearted decorative pieces such as the present pair of musicians.
