Lot Essay

"One species generates more excitement and frantic shutter-snapping among the wildlife worshippers than any other. And that's the leopard. Maybe it's the fact that leopards are loners, night-stalkers who retreat to dark, shadowy places during the day. Maybe it's their amazing resiliency; how they can survive in a savage world of lions and hyenas and the like. Or perhaps we love the leopard simply because it's the most elegantly fashioned creature on earth--especially when reposed on a gnarly limb in the heat of an African day." (Bob Kuhn in Wild Harvest: The Animal Art of Bob Kuhn, 1997, p.61)
