THE FIRST MARK OF SIMON ACHILLE LEGER, PARIS, 1815-1826; THE SECOND CIRCA 1775, THE MINIATURE SIGNED 'BOUTON'
The first in gold book-form locket, the rectangular locket with sliding front cover, the back and front cover with engine-turning within stiff-leaf borders, the interior with glazed oval panel with stippled mat with laurel leaves and berries, the miniature depicting Louis XVI, wearing the breast-star of the French Order of the Saint-Esprit, locket marked inside cover, miniature apparently unsigned; the second in vari-color gold frame, oval, the subject wearing gilt-studded armor and wearing a breast-star, signed to the right Bouton p., the metal back of frame with hinge and lug for locket, now missing

The second with signature possibly that of Guillaume Gabriel Bouton (1730-1782).
