Gerd Dreher (b. 1943) is the most renowned member of a family of German hardstone carvers. His realistic carvings of animals were the subject of a 2004 exhibition entitled Gerd Dreher: the Gem Carvings of Gerd Dreher: A Fabergé Legacy, at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Texas. Dreher's works are found in both public and private collections world-wide.
