Lot Essay

It is rare to find a chrysanthemum stem as the central motif and its uncluttered conception on this dish is also noteworthy. The Li character located near the mouth rim is likely to denote a family name, either of the artisan or the person for whom the dish was commissioned, making the present dish a highly unique Dingyao example of its kind.
