Shown seated on a simulated rockwork dais of beige, ochre and russet tones, the Luohan depicted with a serene expression, his features framed by a stippled beard, moustache and curled sideburns extending over his ears, the edges of his hooded robe engraved and gilt with clouds on a wave-ground, the robes left open at the chest exposing his dhoti, his right arm resting on a monkey presenting him with a peach, the stone of a warm russet tone skilfully carved using pale beige areas to highlight the face, hands and monkey
