A SET OF TEN SOAPSTONE APPLIQUE AND PAINTED EROTIC-SUBJECT PANELS
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

Comprising of five cloth-covered wood-framed panels, each fitted with a sliding cover, opening to reveal interior scenes depicting figures in erotic pursuits, variously set in terraced landscape and interior scenes, finely rendered with varying coloured carved soapstone, the details finely incised and picked out with coloured ink and gilt, with an ink inscription to the reverse of one panel, Chun Se Guan Ren, 'An Amorous Gentleman'
