AN EXQUISITE BAMBOO CARVING OF A SEATED SAGE
QING DYNASTY, 17TH/18TH CENTURY

The figure modelled with hair swept into a topknot wrapped in a kerchief, exposing fine facial features carefully rendered to provide a smiling expression, holding a lingzhi spray before him and a double gourd suspended from his belt at the back, seated leaning against an outcrop, beside a wicker basket laden with peaches and herbs
