A LARGE IMPERIAL BRONZE 'DRAGON' VASE
XIANFENG CAST SIX-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1851-1861)
Of pear shape raised on a tall flaring foot, cast with two pairs of dragons each confronting a 'flaming pearl' reserved against a dense cloud scroll ground, below two bands of dragons chasing 'flaming pearls' at the neck and a further band of stylised classic scroll at the mouth rim, the neck flanked by a pair of dragon masks issuing looped handles with loose oval rings attached, the foot with a band of stiff-leaves with archaistic detailing above the six-character reign mark in a line around the base
