Crossbanded and boxwood lined, the top with black tooled leather writing-surface above a mahogany-lined frieze drawer, with conforming undertier, on square tapering legs and spade feet

Lot Essay

This form of table was popularised as a 'horseshoe' table by Thomas Sheraton in his October 1792 engraving published in the Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Drawing Book, 1791-94.
