An early work by the artist, to be dated in the 1660s, and to be compared with the picture in the Gemäldegalerie der Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Vienna (R. Trnek, Die Holländische Gemälde des 17. Jahrhunderts in der Gemäldegalerie, etc., 1992, pp.282-284, n^.93, with ill.). The influence of Jan Both and especially Adam Pijnacker is apparent.
