Vintage note: Deemed to be a great vintage, even 'the vintage of the (20th) century'. Producers said that they had not seen the like since 1955; certainly, they said, quality surpassed the '85 and the '90 vintages. Unlike so many vintages in the first half of the 1990s, the harvest was not spoiled by rain. In fact, quite the opposite.
