Grange--Vintage 1997
South Australia. Penfolds
Missing lid
Tasting note: Deep opaque crimson. Liquorice/blueberry/dark chocolate/herb garden/polished leather aromas with some smoky oak characters. The palate is fruit sweet and concentrated with blueberry/dark chocolate/liquorice flavours and fine slinky/chalky-dry tannins. Malty oak characters pervade at the finish. A very good wine considering the vintage. A comparatively early drinking Grange. 96 shiraz, 4 cabernet sauvignon. Andrew Caillard, The Rewards of Patience, 6th Edition 2008
