Château Pétrus--Vintage 1985
Pomerol, cru exceptionnel. Château-bottled
Stained and damaged label. Level into neck
Tasting note: First noted on its fifth birthday at Johann Bjürkland's Pétrus tasting. Still ruby, but seemed to be already fully evolved: ripe, rich, mulberry sort of fruit. At ten years of age alongside the other first growths, positively opulent, fantasctically full of fruit, concentrated, mouthfilling. Equal top with Mouton, which had a fractionally finer bouquet, and Pétrus the slightly better palate. Most recently, at 15 years of age, now mature looking, rich, complete. Last tasted at Stephan Kaplan's '85s event, April 2000 ***** Perfect now. Another 20 years of life Michael Broadbent, Vintage Wine
