Lot Essay

M. Plomp (loc. cit.) dates this to circa 1660-70 and believes that the drawings were to be regularly used by the artist. Other examples of such finished coloured drawings are in the Kunsthalle, Bremen, M. Plomp, op. cit., fig. 22.
