A Wood with a Herdsman and his Cattle by a Pond

A comparable drawing by the same artist, signed and dated 1772, was sold in these Rooms, 24 November 1992, lot 267. Along with contemporary connoisseurs like Winter, IJver, van der Schley, Roos and Ploos van Amstel he organised a number of auctions of Old Master drawings in his time. Like Roos (see lot 231 in this sale), he was also a good amateur artist.
