Lot Essay

The attribution has been confirmed by Robert-Jan te Rijdt.
Voogd was a pupil of Jurriaan Andriessen, and left for Italy in 1788, where he met artists like Humbert de Superville and Johann Christian Reinhart. He stayed in Italy and published a series of landscape lithographs in 1818, a genre for which he became well known.
