CIRCA 1735-40
Of shaped rectangular form, the sides painted with a continuous scene with merchants on a shore by packages and cargo before ships and buildings on distant islands, between Gitterwerk borders divided by moulded white scrolls at the corners and a large central lambrequin, the base with figures on a shore, the cover with figures on horseback before camels and a moored galleon within a similar border, the cover interior with a port with figures in canopied barges within a brown line and gilt band border, the box interior richly gilt (slight wear to base and gilt border)
