See the similarly decorated plaques sold in these Rooms, 31 March 2008, lots 20 and 21. Jacques-Francois-Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines (1769-1823), was a painter at Sèvres who was granted the unusual privlege of being allowed to sign his work 'Swebach' or 'Sw'. Another plaque with horses and a very similar landscape painted by Swebach was sold in these Rooms on 2 March 1992, lot 147.
