Tapering cylindrical, cast and chased with a marriage feast, a band of lobed decorations above and below, the cover with openwork foliage and scroll gallery below a cast group of three putto holding a shield enamelled with two coats-of-arms accolé, with a band of lobed decoration, the handle with scroll thumbpiece and with a cast mask, with a blue enamel plaque dated '27 February 1881', the stand with four winged dragon supports connected to grotesque masks with foliage swags, the sides and three corners applied with various enamelled coats-of-arms, the fourth corner applied with a plaque with an inscription, overall set with various cabochon gem-stones, the stand signed 'Sy & Wagner 900 H. Zacharias ERF'

The inscription on the base reads 'Ihren Königlichen Hoheiten dem Prinzen Wilhem von Preussen und der Prinzessin Augusta Victoria Prinzessin zu Schleswig Holstein zu Höchst Ihrer Vermählung in Besster Ehrfurcht Dargebracht Von der Provinz Sachsen' which translates as 'To their Royal Highnesses the Prince William of Prussia and the Princess Auguste Victoria Princess of Schleswig Holstein presented on the occassion of their wedding with devotion from the Province of Saxony.'

The inscription on the tankard reads 'Minne Taugt Nicht Einsam * Sie Soll Sein Gemeinsam * So Gemeinsam Dass Sie Dringt * Durch Zwei Herzen und Kein Drittes Zwingt' which translates as 'Love Can Not Be Lonely, It Must be for Two, So Much That it Pierces Through Two Hearts and Does Not Force a Third.'

The arms on the cover are those of Prince Wilhelm of Prussia accolé with those of Princess Auguste Victoria of Schleswig Holstein.
The arms on the corners of the base are those of Altmart; Herzogthum Magdeburg and Saxony.

The arms around the sides of the base are those of Fürstenthum Quedlinburg; Herzogthum Sachsen; Grafschaft Barby; Fürstenthum Halberstadt; Grafschaft Hohnstein; Reichsstadt Nordhausen; Herzogthum Naumburg Zeitz; Fürstenthum Eichsfeld; Fürstenthum Erfurt; Grasfchaft Stolberg; Grafschaft Henneberg; Grafschaft Mansfeld; Thüringen; Grafschaft Regenstein; Herzogthum Merseburg and Reichsstadt Mühlhausen.
