AN ENGLISH DELFT BLUE-DASH ADAM AND EVE CHARGER
CIRCA 1680-90, PROBABLY LONDON
Painted in green, ochre, blue and manganese with the couple flanking a spotted green tree trunk with an ochre-striped serpent amongst its branches before yellow and ochre apples, in a wooded landscape, the underside covered in a cream slip with a slightly green lead glaze, the footrim pierced for suspension (section of rim cracked in two and restuck between 3-4 o'clock with small areas of associated in-filling and glaze losses, hairline crack, minor rim chipping)
13 in. (33 cm.) diam.
