An identical miniature is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, see J. Murdoch, Seventeenth-century English Miniatures in the Collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 1997, illustrated p. 324, no. 196. A further miniature by the same hand was sold Christie's, London, 24 May 2000, lot 115. It was described in J. L. Propert, A History of Miniature Art, London/New York, 1887 (illustrated opp. p. 66) as a work by 'Mrs. Beal' [sic.].
