"Some of the works look like blackboards, indeed, I do imagine them as blackboards and I write on them all that I have in mind, without restraint or censorship. Some have meanings, some don't. When you see an object in the form of a plaited rattan fish trap, it is about a story or symbol of shackles. I want to be 'trapped' by my past." (Alfi Jumaldi, Silent Letter of the Night Summer in Alfi, solo exhibition catalogue, iPreciation, Singapore, 2006, p. 3-4).
