Lot Essay

The American J Fred Zimmerman was a co-founder of the Theatrical Syndicate in 1896, essentially creating the business of theatrical management. Originally married to the comic prima donna Ethel Jackson, he married Grace Rankin circa 1908. Rankin had previously been a showgirl in the company run by Anna Held, who with her partner Florenz Ziegfeld created the famous Ziegfeld Follies.
