Lot Essay

The present portrait relates to a full scale portrait of the Craven children executed by Thomas Beach in 1776. Three other related pictures, formerly in the Collection of the Craven family, sold Philip's London, 11 December 1984, lots 52-54.

Arabella Craven was the daughter of William, 6th Baron Craven (1738-1791). She married General Hon. Frederick St. John and died on the 9 June 1819.
