A PAIR OF ROMAN BRONZE LION HANDLES
CIRCA 2ND-3RD CENTURY A.D.
Each circular in form, cast in high relief, holding a fluted ring in the gaping jaw, the teeth bared, the tongue protruding, the radiating mane arranged in rows of short locks enhanced by incision, the ears rounded, the brow furrowed, the whiskers and fur finely incised, the lidded eyes with the pupils delineated, with three attachment holes on the perimeter, the iron rivets preserved
