Lot Essay
Peter Ivanovich Korobov (1752-1819) established his works at Danilkovo near Moscow in 1796. The business flourished, using local craftsmen. The factory was taken over between 1817 and 1819 by Korobov's son-in-law, Peter Vasilievich Lukutin, under whom the factory's techniques were perfected. He was later joined by his sons, to continue the finest papier maché lacquer manufactory in Russia during the 19th century.
