Lot Essay

See Barbara Beaucamp-Markowsky, Porzellandosen des 18.Jahrhunderts, Munich, 1985, cat. nos. 60-67 for similarly decorated snuff boxes. The attribution to the painter Isaak Jacob Clauce is based on a comparison with cat. no. 66, in particular the treatment of the tree branches. The interior cover mount is similarly crimped on both boxes.
